The question often comes up: are our feet suitable for outdoor projects? Yes, our feet are suitable for outdoor furniture because they are powder coated. They can spend summer or winter outside without being impacted by weather conditions.
But for the trays then? For the trays it's different. What is right for the interior may not necessarily be suitable for the outdoors. There are now suitable materials or ways to protect the deck and board from outdoor conditions. Through the different creations, you will discover some tips.
We present here several DIY creations created by influencers on Instagram. Every project takes a start to get started, so start by getting inspired by what you can do with a leg, table top and cabinet!
DISCLAIMER
Our feet are resistant to outdoor climatic conditions on condition that special attention is paid to them:
- It is important to protect the part of the foot in direct contact with the ground, using plastic pads to prevent over time and possible movement (manual or wind) damaging the lower part of the foot.
- It is essential to plug all the fixing holes, that is to say to screw all of those present on the chosen foot, especially industrial models. This prevents water from seeping into the interior of the hollow profiles and the foot rusting from the inside.
GARDEN TABLE
The outdoor table is a staple of garden furniture, perfect for dining outside or just soaking up the sun. As with the interior, there are standard size tables depending on the space available and the number of people around.
PAULINE'S GARDEN TABLE
Pauline from the instagram account @paulinedress chose to make her tray herself using boots of clip-on floor and 2 feet cross 71 cm. 2 cleats bind together all the slats on which the feet align. It is necessary to protect the newly created table top with a special exterior wood varnish. This operation must be repeated over time depending on the varnish and the floor used. To find the whole DIY, it happens here.
Tip: If you want to add guests at the end of the table, we advise you to tuck the 30 cm legs inside the table top
MARINE'S GARDEN TABLE
Marine from the instagram account @cheregemme has chosen M legs to make your garden table. The top is an old door retyped and embellished with suitable sanding and a protective varnish . The feet are positioned further inside to accommodate people at the end of the table.
MARION'S GARDEN TABLE
For a table at a lower cost and personalized, Marion from the instagram account @aventuremaisondeco a choisi des bastaings pour fabriquer sa table d’extérieur. Bastaings can be found in DIY stores. Usually they are rough so it is necessary to sand them and protect them. You have to bind them to each other with special wood glue and fix them together from below with 2 to 3 cleats to make sure that they do not move. For a colored table, Marine painted the top white and selected 2 copper hourglass feet. White balances the more trendy copper color because it also has its place outside.
Tip: adapt the size of the bastaings according to the size of the desired table.
CHARLINE'S GARDEN TABLE
Charline from the instagram account @home_by_charline wanted a large dining table, so she used the 2 tips shared previously :
- Choose longer bastaings
- Position the M legs chosen 30 cm inside
For a uniform table, the bastaings were this time painted black. Associated with 2 benches in the same tones, this creates monochrome outdoor furniture. To make this DIY, get inspired by the creation of this indoor table with the same materials, by clicking here.
Tip: the M legs are the only ones suitable for a table with a dimension of 3m.
EMILIE'S GARDEN TABLE
Émilie from the instagram account @jolitipi has imagined an outdoor kitchen with a secondhand and recycled spirit in which is added a dining table created with 2 cross legs 71 cm. The tray is a second hand mottled table where only the tray is kept. After having sanded and protected it, here is a second life offered to it. White is not to be avoided for an exterior project, it is simply essential to respect the rules set out in the disclaimer above of the article. BENCH
OLYMPE'S BENCH
Olympe from the instagram account @olympeofficiel created a bench in addition to the creation of her dining table. To create harmony without weighing down, he opted for a different foot model than that of the table, the custom-made thin flat iron while maintaining the same color. He used, like his table, bastaings. Here a 3rd foot is necessary given the length of the bench and the weight it will support over time. This central foot will prevent sagging because wood is a material that lives and deteriorates depending on climatic conditions. You can find the details of his DIY on his Instagram account.
Tip: choosing different legs while keeping the same color helps keep a unit in a room while making each piece of furniture unique.
SOPHIE'S BENCH
To dress up her terrace, Sophie from the instagram account @sosoomao wanted to add 2 benches to her table. She built them thanks to 2 tailor-made thin flat iron feet and railroad beams. On these beams, the wear of time is visible, which their gives a soul and a singularity. The benches bring character to this garden furniture.
Tip: we advise you to choose the board first and adapt the width of the foot to the width of your board and not the other way around.
COFFEE TABLE
STÉPHANE'S COFFEE TABLE
Stéphane from the instagram account @coconuts_deco reused a palette to create an outdoor coffee table. He protected it with a varnish made for the exterior and added 4 wheals hairpin leg to move it as you wish. For an outdoor coffee table, the casters are ideal for moving the table according to the number of guests and its use.
Tip: reusing a pallet is a good way to upcycling and finding use for an object that no longer had any.
JULIE'S COFFEE TABLE
In her garden, Julie from the instagram account @vert_de_gris has a beautiful rock wall. To stay in this unique atmosphere, unique garden furniture was needed.
