Only the standard does not always match with a project because the available space does not correspond, the need varies by a few centimeters or it requires 100% tailor-made. Even for standard projects, custom-made is a valuable solution, especially for the options and details to be personalized. LE CHÊNE MASSIF

The only option that cannot be chosen concerns the choice of wood: only solid oak is offered. Our team has selected this type of wood because, in addition to being noble, it is robust, solid and very qualitative for large trays.

Each board is chosen with care when making a board. The detail is pushed to the point of harmonizing the designs and arranging them in such a way as to obtain a beautiful aesthetic. A top with many wooden knots seems enlarged. If there are only a few, carefully balanced, the final rendering is unique and retains the initial charm of the material.

Oak is a dense material, which is what makes it robust. The thicker it is, the harder it is to drill. Especially at the edge, where there is a risk of splitting the wood. Pre-drilling facilitates the final assembly of a table or piece of furniture with this species.

Due to its quality, it has a certain cost but crosses the years without concern when it is protected correctly. It is common to see solid oak tops being passed down from generation to generation and having several lives after stripping of its protection.

THE SIZE

The first element of a custom table is these dimensions. The song of possibilities is endless. Thanks to our custom top form, imagine a small shelf for a shelf or console up to the large family table enthroned in the middle of the dining room.

THE THICKNESS

We do not immediately think of the thickness of a top or a board when we imagine the creation of a table, and yet! This detail is essential to ensure the longevity of the piece of furniture in question. A top that is too thin for large dimensions risks sagging over time.

Conversely, choosing a thick top for a small area has no negative aspect. It is above all a question of taste and aesthetics.

4 thicknesses are available:

• 14 mm
• 18 mm
• 31 mm
• 36 mm

For a console, a shelf, a small desk or a coffee table, 14 and 18 mm are largely sufficient given the density of the oak. Combined with steel legs, like ours, this balances out and creates a stable and sturdy whole.

For a dining table for 6 or more people and a large coffee table, 31 and 36 mm are recommended. Wood remains a living material that adapts according to the humidity of the room. Choosing a greater thickness ensures better resistance over time and avoids sagging.

For projects with intermediate dimensions such as a daily desk, a kitchen table or an island worktop, opt for 31 mm thickness.

Depending on the piece of furniture to be created, there is a balance to be found between the choice of the base and that of the top.

The thickness obviously varies the price because the thicker it is, the more material it requires.

PLATTER ASSEMBLY

We are used to visualizing the sets once they are finished. In the trade, rare are the possibilities allowing such complete customization of a tray. But what is board assembly?

A tray is usually made up of several boards, associated with each other to form the final version. Then comes the final assembly stage to become one and here, there are several possibilities.

A hydraulic press is used at this level. It is thanks to it that it is possible to make the different pieces of wood on the same board almost invisible. Depending on the power chosen, the gap can be more or less visible, creating a real gap of a few millimeters or even centimeters between the boards. In this case, cleats are added.

THE EDGES OF THE TRAY

Last detail but not the least to personalize on a set: the edges.

There are the songs themselves where we offer 4 solutions:

• Straight edge: classical edge
• Half-rounded edge: softens the edges
• Live edge: imitates the natural line of the wood, as if it were cut directly from the tree
• Aircraft wing or Swiss edge: gives a more airy finish to a thick top

Whatever form you choose, the edges are customizable.

In the same vein, and in addition to differentiating the edges, customize the edges: either straight or rounded. The rounded version is very practical with children or to break the very angular and strict aspect of a rectangular top, for example. Obviously for a round tray, the question does not arise.

Decorating a piece of furniture and even a room is in the details . There are no prerequisites for these options. It is only related to the final aesthetics

LA FINITION DU PLATEAU

All trays are made in a workshop specializing in wood in Wambrechies, in the north of France. They are all created and manipulated manually.
