18 months ago, Charlotte opened her restaurant Chicons Pressés downtown Lille (France) : a positive place to be, where people can relax during their lunch breaks, a place that needed legs to create unique tables with a warm design. Let enter into Charlotte’s restaurant as she is sharing to us her story.
WHERE DID YOUR IDEA TO OPEN A RESTAURANT COME FROM ?
Based in Paris, I was a product manager within the gambling industry, I had the project to get back in North of France, where I grew up. I’ve always been passionnate about enterpreneurship, and I really like restaurant/catering : it is dynamic, changes all the time. I worked several times in restaurants and I realized that people wanted to have a healthy and quick lunch and also, that there was a lot of waste mostly because portions are not adapted to people’s appetit. Protect our planet, minimize our carbon footprint are important to me, it goes deep to my core values.
In this regard, I created Chicons Pressés : a place where people can relax, have a quick and healthy lunch, a place where people eat in real plates ! Portions are adapted : each person creates his own plate with food made daily with only local ingredients. The specificity about Chicons Pressés is that you pay your meal depending on your portion’s weight ; and magically…there is almost no waste !
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM ?
I think I consider myself as curious ; I like sharing with the communauty what I discover ; I had a blog in which I shared good deals and addresses of Artisans/Crafters and small shops. Since then, I mostly get my inspiration on Instagram : I follow blogs, find receipes for the restaurant, decoration ideas. It’s also in the attic of my grandma that I find tresors : I like recycling things, making unique and pretty objects with old ones. I really don’t like standardisation.
LET SPEAK ABOUT LEGS
We are lucky to have a rich ecosystem of artisans, crafters, small companies, creating quality and refined products. We have mutual values such as believing in authenticity and making affordable quality products. I wanted Chicons Pressés’s tables going along with the plates we serve everyday : elegants made with local and quality ingredients.
I couldn’t find what I wanted in standard furnitures catalogues for restaurants. I discovered Fabrique des Pieds on Instagram. I chose hairpin legs, I liked their design and simplicity : they created a global harmony with the restaurant ; I took a mix of colors : black, white and golden.
I think I found more than just legs when I started working with la Fabrique des Pieds, I also find services. The team gave me precious advices and stood by my project to find the right table trays. Assemble the table trays with the legs was also very easy. What a great experience to create unique tables, reflecting Chicons Pressés’ philosophy : simplicity, authenticity and quality.
