The dining table is one of the centerpieces of the house, it will give character to your interior and will accommodate large family or friendly tables. There are many models, but the choice is not so simple and in the dining tables of the store, there may be a detail that displeases. So why not start building your future dining table. It's much less complicated than it seems, today we present you a DIY to make a large table with bastaing for a solid rendering.
EQUIPMENT

- 2 feet M 71 cm black
- 30 6x30mm lag screws 6x30mm

- Protective varnish
- 16 screw 45 mm
- Screwdriver
TRAY
STEP 1 :
Buy 5 bastaings and let them sit in your home for ten days while they get used to the heat and humidity in the room. They will retract which is quite normal, this will prevent the table from warping over time.
STEP 2 :
Rough sand.
STEP 3 :
Position the bastaings next to each other and link them with a wood or metal reinforcement almost equivalent to the width of the top. The ideal is to secure them with lag bolts a size less than the thickness of your board + reinforcements. Here we will use 30mm deep lag screws for 6mm diameter.
STEP 4 :
Now comes the sanding step using the sandpaper. We start with the coarse-grained sandpaper, therefore 40. This first sanding eliminates the roughest edges of the wood and erases splinters. Then, we go to the second sanding with the medium large sandpaper, 80, which will allow to remove the last irregularities present on the bastaing boards. Once this step has been carried out, comes the last sanding with the sandpaper with the smallest grain, ie 120. This last sanding smooths the bastaing boards and makes them soft to the touch. It is important to do it in 3 times because the bastaing is a rough board and this will allow you to eliminate all types of roughness.
STEP 5 :
Paint the top with 2 coats of white then varnish it to protect it from stains.
STEP 6 :
Allow your tray to dry depending on the paint you are using. Refer to the paint bucket label for more information.
LES PIEDS
STEP 7 :
Position the feet on the back of the tray and mark the location of the holes.
STEP 8 :
Position the feet and screw them using the 45mm hinge screws (special wood). If the wood is too hard, you can pre-drill it using a 4mm diameter wood drill. Repeat this step for the second foot.
STEP 9 :
Flip your table and you're done !
