In this interview with Florent DEMARS, founder of La Fabrique des Pieds, we discuss the release of the new collection which allows La Fabrique des Pieds to now offer a range of more than 90 references available in infinite colors and sizes.

How are the new La Fabrique collections organized? And what is the process of creation?
A new collection at La Fabrique is being built over 6 to 12 months and we want to bring out new feet every 6 months.
We listen a lot to the needs of private and professional clients . Once the recurring needs have been analyzed, I take care of drawing a series of base designs that we prototype in the workshop. We discuss it as a team to come up with the best product. Then we optimize our manufacturing process in order to offer fast manufacturing times (generally average manufacturing times are 2 to 3 weeks).
I am committed to ensuring that new products meet the needs of the market, but I am also committed to maintaining a clean, understated design that can suit as many interiors as possible. This is what makes the soul of La Fabrique des Pieds.
You speak of "beautiful", what do you mean by this rather generic term? ?
For me, to offer something beautiful is to create a base with balanced lines, steel profiles that will perfectly match the shape of the furniture it will support. I get a lot of inspiration from looking at the architecture of buildings and the landscapes where they reside something harmonious that I want to show through the bases.
And more generally, at La Fabrique, doing something beautiful is the normal way of producing !
How did the manufacture of the legs go during the COVID outbreak? ?
Pretty good. Our raw material comes from suppliers located within 50km of our workshop , so we had fewer supply problems than we expected. Only the carriers mobilized to send the feet to our customers suffered disruptions during the period of confinement. Everything has been restored since.
We are convinced that mastering the production chain from A to Z has enabled us to offer our customers short manufacturing times compared to this type of event. And this allowed us to maintain normal production.

The footboards have fairly geometric and sought-after shapes, in particular with the possibility of customizing them, why this bias to offer footboards with such a successful design? ?
This is precisely a position that I have had since I created La Fabrique des Pieds. I am convinced that the base of a piece of furniture can upset a decoration, a room. We are not often attracted to the footboards because they are often commonplace and therefore do not reach our eyes. With this collection of legs, we want to transform the bed as a piece of furniture in its own right and that it is not only the bed sets that catch the eye..
Giving importance to things that don't seem to be, like the footboards, that's what drives my daily life !

Why did you want to call the new collection "Beau Bazar" ?
La Fabrique has grown, in large part, thanks to Instagram . And on this network many photos seem to be perfect, with the right framing, a very correct position of the objects,… And we are always surprised when we post photos where there is a nice mess because they often appeal to Internet users more than the photo that can be considered "perfect". And so we wanted to assert the aesthetic side of imperfection and make the foot accessible both to the souls of decorators and to uncertain beginners.
