The coffee table is the center of the living room, where your evenings with family and friends will take place, where you will spend a romantic evening. The choice of your coffee table is essential: what size do you want it? how high ? What form?
In this DIY, we offer you a 100% handmade table that can be modified according to your tastes. The basic idea is to create a low cabinet table where you can slide the remote control and magazine into it while placing your worms on it. You can decide to do it partially or totally. It's your turn!
EQUIPMENT
- 2 custom flat iron H30 L50 cm
- 1 board of 50x70
- 2 boards 70 cm long, 10 cm wide and 18 mm thick
- 2 boards 46.4 cm long, 10 cm wide and 18 mm thick
- Screwdriver
- Protective varnish
- 20 Hinge screw 15 mm for the table top
- White paint
- 10 x 15 mm hinge screws for the feet
BOX
STEP 1 :
Once the boards have been cut to the right dimensions, form the frame by covering the smaller board (length 46.4 cm and width 10 cm) with the longest boards (length 70 cm and width 10 cm) and screw them together. That is, the longest boards are on the outside and the shorter boards are on the inside of the frame.
STEP 2 :
Fix the 50 by 70 cm board under the frame and screw it with the hinge screws.
STEP 3 :
Varnish your box to protect it.
THE FEET
STEP 4 :
Place the box upside down and position the flat iron feet at the ends.
STEP 5 :
Screw the feet using hinge screws.
STEP 6 :
Return the set and your coffee table is finished !
OPTIONS
OPTION 1 : Close the coffee table in half
EQUIPMENT
- 1 board of length 50, width 35 and thickness 18 mm
- 1 board 46.4 cm long, 10 cm wide and 18 mm thick
- 4 small fixing brackets 15x15 cm
- 4 hinge screws 15 mm
- 1 wood pencil
- White paint
- Screwdriver
BONUS STEP 1 :
When you have finished assembling the frame and before attaching the bottom to it, position your 50 by 35 board below the frame and decide on the possible opening. Here, we draw a line 15 cm from the edge and on the contours.
BONUS STEP 2 :
Position the small brackets inside the drawn rectangle and fix them.
BONUS STEP 3 :
Flip and paint the top of the board white.
BONUS STEP 4 :
Slide the 46.4 cm by 10 cm board inside your box, this will create storage for your remote controls, for example.
BONUS STEP 5 :
position the cover on your cabinet and slide it to open it if necessary You can now slide and half close the coffee table to put a glass on it or store magazines underneath.
OPTION 2 : Close the box for a larger table top
EQUIPMENT
- 1 sheet of 52x100
- 2 hinges
- 8 screws
- Screwdriver
BONUS STEP 1 :
Place the hinges 15 cm from each edge on the box and secure them with the screws
BONUS STEP 2 :
Lay your coffee table on its side lengthwise, place the 52 by 100 cm board on it and center it in relation to your coffee table.
BONUS STEP 3 :
Fix the hinges on the 52 by 100 cm board.
BONUS STEP 4 :
Raise your coffee table and close your cabinet.
